The deacons of the church of Christ are stalwart workers. The Twelve appointed workers in the church so that they could be free to continue preaching and teaching. (Acts 6:2-7). Paul in his letter to Timothy outlined the qualities of a deacon: "Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus." (I Timothy 12-13). The Elders appoint deacons to carry out specific duties, such as outreach or benevolence, or organizing missions work, or coordinating activities of the youth group. They also are responsible for the care and maintenance of the building and grounds. If you have any questions about their job or about the leadership of the church, please email them at the address provided at left.

The job of a minister or preacher is to deliver the Word of God, unaltered and without adding to or taking away from the message of the Bible. In his letter to the Romans, Paul asks how one can believe if one has not heard, and how one can hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14)
Adam Richardson is the pulpit minister at SCOC. He and his family have been with SCOC since June 2003. Adam holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in ministry from Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee. If you have any questions about his ministry here at SCOC you may email Adam at the link provided at left. You may also listen to his sermons by clicking here or on the Sermons link at left.
