Our Deacons

Welcome to the Deacons' Page of the Seneca church of Christ.

The deacons of the church of Christ are stalwart workers. The Twelve appointed workers in the church so that they could be free to continue preaching and teaching. (Acts 6:2-7). Paul in his letter to Timothy outlined the qualities of a deacon: "Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus." (I Timothy 12-13). The Elders appoint deacons to carry out specific duties, such as outreach or benevolence, or organizing missions work, or coordinating activities of the youth group. They also are responsible for the care and maintenance of the building and grounds.
